BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least nine Palestinians in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank on Monday, Israeli and Palestinian sources reported.
Locals told Ma’an that three Palestinians were detained in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, identifying them as Sharhabil Ahmad Awwad, Islam al-Zubeidi, and Zuhdi Qawariq, a student at the al-Najjah University.
An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed to Ma’an that three Palestinians had been detained in the Nablus area.
Two youths from the Aida refugee camp near the city of Bethlehem were also detained during clashes which erupted when Israeli soldiers raided the camp. The youths were identified by locals as Khader Zreineh, 20, and Muhammad al-Kurdi, 19.
The Israeli army only confirmed one detention in the Bethlehem area.
Palestinian sources also reported the detention of Ubada Daraghmeh in the city of Tubas during a night raid.
The Israeli spokesperson didn’t have information regarding the detention in Tubas, but added that two Palestinians were detained in the Ramallah area, as well as one in the Jericho district.
According to Palestinian prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of May.
