Description
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 11 Palestinians in overnight raids Wednesday night and early Thursday morning from across the occupied West Bank, Palestinian and Israeli sources said.

Israeli forces reportedly detained Mahmoud and Muhammad al-Balboul from Bethlehem. The two are the sons of Ahmad al-Balboul, a prominent leader in Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades who was shot dead along with three other Palestinians by undercover Israeli forces in March 2008.
Al-Balboul’s sister, Nouran, was also detained by Israeli forces at a checkpoint in April.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Bassam Ajaj was reportedly detained from the village of Seida northeast of Tulkarem.

Israeli forces detained former prisoner Ali Lulah from the village of Awarta, and Bashal Ideili from the village of Beita in the southeastern Nablus district. Mahmoud Issa Hummameh from the city of Nablus was also detained at the Awarta checkpoint after midnight on Wednesday.

Palestinian security sources told Ma'an that Israeli forces detained Ibrahim Hammad Zain and Muhammad Ibrahim from the town of Yatta in southern Hebron, as well as Murad Saadi al-Qawasmi from the city of Hebron. Al-Qawasmi is the brother of Marwan al-Qawasmi, who was accused of kidnapping and killing three Israeli settlers in a high-profile case in 2014.

Locals said that dozens of soldiers raided the houses of the two Palestinians suspected in a deadly Tel Aviv shooting attack in Yatta,
cousins Muhammad Ahmad Moussa Makhamreh and Khalid Muhammad Moussa Makhamreh. Israeli forces also sealed entrances of the town.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed to Ma’an that at least seven Palestinians were detained in the overnight raids: three near Nablus, one near Ramallah, and three in and around Bethlehem.

The spokesperson confirmed that there were arrests in the Hebron area, but could not disclose a specific number, as it was part of an “ongoing investigation” following the Tel Aviv attack.

According to Palestinian prisoners rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of May.
