HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 18 Palestinians in predawn raids across the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Society said in a statement that Israeli forces detained eight Palestinians from Hebron district, identified as Ammar Othman al-Ewiwi, 36, Karim Shahin, Louy al-Taweel, 28,Tariq Idies, 34, Anan al-Zamara, Anas Abdel-Mughni Esaed, Jawhar Azzam Makhamrah, and Muhammad Isaac Jaradat.
In Ramallah district, the society said Israeli forces detained Jaber Mamdouh Jaber Abdo, 25, Ward Muhammad Abdo, 18, Abdullah Muhammad Abdo, Muhammad Majd Ali, 19, Fadi Nayef Elayyan, 29, and Raed Riyad Dar Saleh, 22.
The society said Israeli forces also detained Mahmoud Mutair from Qalandiya refugee camp and Odai Yousef Bader from Abu Dis, as well as Louy Yasser Fathi al-Amer, 23, from Qafr Qalil village near Nablus.
An Israeli army spokesperson said eight Palestinians were detained in Hebron district, one in Nablus, six in Ramallah, and three in Bethlehem.
She said three of the detainees from Hebron district and another three from Ramallah were "Hamas operatives," while the rest were detained for "illegal activities."
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Israeli forces carried out an average of 88 search and arrest raids every week last year.
Israeli is now holding nearly 7,000 Palestinians in its jails, including around 450 children.

Israeli soldiers invaded, earlier on Wednesday at dawn, several Palestinian districts in the occupied West Bank, stormed and violently searched homes, and kidnapped seventeen Palestinians, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said.
The PPS stated that the soldiers invaded Hebron city, and several nearby communities, in the southern part of the West Bank, and kidnapped eight Palestinians.
The kidnapped residents have been identified as Tareq Anwar Ed’eis, 34, Karim Shahin, Luay Tawil, 28, Ammar Othman al-‘Oweiwy, 36, Anas Abdul-Ghani Es’eed, Anan Yousef Zama’ra, Jawhar Azzam Makhamra and Mansour Ishaq Jaradat.
The soldiers also kidnapped six Palestinians, during various invasions and searches of homes in the Ramallah and al-Biereh district.
The PPS said the soldiers kidnapped Mahmoud Jaber Abda, 25, Ward Mohammad Abda, 18, Abdullah Mohammad Abda, Majd Ali Zodroq, 19, Fadi Nayef ‘Oleyyan, 29, and Raed Riyad Saleh, 22.
Another Palestinian, identified as Mahmoud Mteir, was kidnapped in the Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, while a teenager, identified as Adi Yousef Badr, was kidnapped from his home in Abu Dis town.
In Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, the soldiers searched a few homes and kidnaped Lu'ay Fathi al-‘Amer, 23.
