Description
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces overnight Friday raided districts across the occupied West Bank, detaining six and injuring one, locals and security sources said.

Palestinian security sources told Ma’an that Israeli forces detained 24-year-old Hamza Sayil Jarrar after shooting him in the abdomen when clashes broke out at the northern entrance to the town of Qabatiya near Jenin.

Muataz Khalid Qabaha, 28, from the town of Yaabad, was also detained during the clashes.

Ramiz Nasser al-Asmar and a Palestinian police officer identified as Muatasim Barbour were detained at a military checkpoint near the northern entrance to Qabatiya, sources added.

Qabatiya village has been under increased presence of Israeli forces since the military barred the village's 20,000 residents from movement in and out of the area on Wednesday.

Meanwhile in Nablus, Israeli forces raided the town of Beit Furik and detained Mahmoud Bassam al-Hajj, 20, and Qusay Younis Hanini, 27. Security sources told Ma’an that the forces broke into home of Hanini as well as Yasser al-Antarim.

In Beit Ur al-Tahta village near Ramallah, locals told Ma’an that Jihad Muhammad Khader Suleiman was detained when Israeli forces raided the village before dawn.

Witnesses said that Israeli forces also raided and searched the homes of Hasan Mahmoud, Jabr Aref, Muhammad Issa and Misbah Suleiman in the village.

The village was sealed last month after a resident of the town alongside a Palestinian from the Qalandiya refugee camp carried out a deadly attack in the illegal settlement of Beit Horon.

An Israeli army spokesperson was able to confirm five detentions to Ma'an, including two near Jenin, two near Nablus, and one near Ramallah. All were detained on suspicion of involvement in "illegal activity."

There are nearly 7,000 Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons, the majority of whom were detained during predawn search and arrest raids.

Israeli forces have carried out a weekly average of 316 such raids in occupied Palestinian territory since the start of 2016, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
