JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- An Israeli man was injured Wednesday night in a stabbing attack at a gas station outside an illegal Israeli settlement north of Jerusalem, Israeli police said.

Israeli police spokesperson Luba al-Samri said in a statement that a middle-aged Israeli man was critically injured in the upper body after he was stabbed at the entrance of a gas station complex near the illegal Givat Zeev settlement and taken to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center for medical treatment.

An 18-year-old from the occupied West Bank village of Bir Nibala suspected of carrying out the stabbing fled the scene and was chased down and held by witnesses before being detained by Israeli police following the incident.
