Description
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained four Palestinians in predawn raids across the West Bank overnight Monday, Palestinian and Israeli sources said.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said in a statement that Israeli forces detained two youths from the Kafr Thulth and Azzun towns near Qalqiliya, identified as Hamdallah Abd al-Qader, 22, and Yassin Muhammad Anaya, 19.
Israeli forces also detained Ahmad Manasra from Qalandiya refugee camp and Moussa Hassan Mahmoud Abu Safiyyeh from Beit Sira near Ramallah.
An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed that four Palestinians were detained -- two in Qalqiliya district and two near Ramallah. She said they were detained for "suspected involvement in terrorist activity."
Israeli forces have detained hundreds of Palestinians since a wave of unrest swept the occupied Palestinian territory at the beginning of October.
Palestinian prisoners' rights group Addameer estimated in December that Israel was holding 6,800 political prisoners, including 470 child prisoners.
