Description
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 18 Palestinians and confiscated money and weapons in multiple raids across the occupied West Bank overnight Monday, Palestinian and Israeli sources said.

Hani Rawajba, a resident of Rujeib village in Nablus district, told Ma'an that Israeli forces stormed his home at around 1 a.m. and detained his son, Muhammad, 18, and seized three weapons, two gold rings, and 8,000 shekels ($2,042).

Israeli soldiers also reportedly raided the home of a local journalist in Rujeib, Ameed Dwikat, and searched his home searching for weapons, but left after they did not find anything.

Israeli forces also detained Mutasem Jamal Qaradah, 22, and Jihad al-Damouni, 40, from Nablus city, and Eyad Zuhir Asad Mansour, 42, from Kafr Qalil village north of Nablus.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed that six Palestinians were detained in Nablus district, and said that a weapons cache of "seven rifles, three handguns, a grenade launcher, and grenades" had been found, along with ammunition.

The Israeli army later released photos of these weapons it said it had seized in Nablus.

Meanwhile, in the village of Surif in northwest Hebron district, Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Hmeidat, Omar Mousa al-Hor, and Abeer al-Hmeidat.

Surif's mayor, Muhammad Lafi Ghnemat, told Ma'an that Israeli forces stormed the home of Abeer al-Hmeidat looking for her son.
When they could not find him, the soldiers ransacked and damaged the home, before detaining Abeer and confiscating 65,000 shekels ($16,597) from the house, Ghnemat said.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed that the money had been seized, saying that it was "intended to be used by Hamas." The spokesperson was unable to confirm that Abeer was detained during the incident.

Ghnemat said that clashes subsequently broke out between local youth and Israeli forces.

He said Palestinians threw stones at the soldiers, who responded with rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas, adding that a number of youth suffered excessive tear gas inhalation.

Israeli forces also raided Hebron's Old City and detained Jihad Fayez al-Hamal after raiding his home in the Abu Sneineh neighborhood.
In the village of Beit Awwa, Israeli forces ransacked a number of homes and detained twin brothers, Maher and Shaer Ghazi Hussein al-Sharha, both 16, as well as Muhammad Abdul Qader Masalmah, 30, locals said.

An Israeli army spokesperson could only confirm five Palestinians were detained in Hebron district.

The spokesperson said two others were detained in Jenin, two in Ramallah, and one in Bethlehem, adding that they were all detained for "suspected illegal activity."

Locals identified two of the detainees from Ramallah asMahmoud Tayseer Hammad, 21, and Baha Thaer Khalil, 20.

In addition, Kamel Husam Jaradat, 20, was detained from Jenin and Muhammad Waheed Zaghloul, 19, from Tulkarem, locals said.
