BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- At least three Israelis were injured in a stabbing attack next to a bus station in Rishon Lezion south of Tel Aviv on Monday, with a Palestinian suspect arrested by Israeli forces, Israeli sources said.
The chief Israeli army spokesperson, Peter Lerner, said that a 19-year-old Palestinian from Hebron was taken into custody after carrying out a "stabbing spree on the streets of Rishon Letzion."
He said that the "assailant" was caught and detained near the scene.
A spokesperson for Israel's emergency services Magen David Adom said that as many as five people had been injured, including an 80-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man in serious condition, as well as three others in their 20s.
He said that as far as he knew, the five injured did not include the suspected Palestinian attacker.
Israeli media reported that the attacker had been wounded by Israeli forces before he was arrested.
An Israeli police spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

Only a few hours earlier, three people were wounded in a stabbing attack in the central Israeli city of Rishon Letzion. The Palestinian attacker, a 19-year-old from Hebron, was detained.
The victims were a man, 35, who was stabbed in the torso and sustained severe wounds, an 80-year-old woman, who also sustained severe wounds, and a man, 26, who was stabbed in the leg and sustained light injuries. They were treated on the scene by first responders and then rushed to Assaf Harofeh Hospital.
The assailant first stabbed the elderly woman on the street by the old central bus station. After that, he stabbed the man in his 20s and then looked for more victims. He then entered a nearby store and stabbed people inside. He left the store and tried to enter the adjacent one, but a woman inside closed the door to keep him out. At this point he was detained by police officers.
The officers had to protect the assailant from an angry mob.
Earlier on Sunday, a Palestinian man was shot dead and another was arrested in what the Israeli army said was an attempted stabbing near a checkpoint in the northern West Bank.
