A Palestinian woman was shot by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank early Wednesday after she was suspected of trying to carry out a stabbing attack.
A military force was alerted to Yizhar, located near Nablus, after the Palestinian woman was seen approaching the settlement with a knife in her hand, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said in a statement.
The soldiers then opened fired at her, wounding her. The IDF said that the woman was receiving initial medical treatment by the soldiers. Her condition was said to be stable.
Two Palestinians were shot and killed Tuesday in three waves of Hebron stabbing attacks.
The IDF believes that the growing number of incidents in Hebron is a result of terror attacks elsewhere, with one attack inspiring others. “It’s contagious, but we can’t identify a directing hand. It’s a continuous dynamic process and even if it’s calm for a few days, this doesn’t mean that this spate of attacks is over” said a defense establishment source. “It could take many more weeks.”
