1 victim, a 19-year-old female IDF soldier taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa in critical condition; Israeli Arab attacker neutralized.

Four people were stabbed by an Arab-Israeli assailant at the Alon Junction on Road 65 near Gan Shmu'el in Northern Israel Sunday evening.

One of the victims, a 19-year-old IDF female soldier, is in critical condition and was taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. One of the victims, a 14-year-old girl, is in moderate condition. Two of them, a 19-year-old male and a 45-year-old man sustained light wounds. They are being treated at Hillel Yaffeh Medical Center in Hadera. 

The assailant, who was neutralized at the scene, was later identified as Ala Raed Zyud, a 22-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm.

"When we arrived at the scene, we saw a woman around 19-years-old lying unconscious on the side of the road with multiple injuries," said an MDA paramedic, Khaled Murai, and an MDA emergency medical technician, Yehuda Haim, who were on the scene and treated the victims. "We treated her…and quickly transported her to the hospital."

A 45-year-old man also received on site treatment and was then transported to the hospital, they added. The other victims went to the hospital on their own. 

This was the second attack against Israelis Sunday. In the first attack, a woman tried to carry out a suicide bombing at the A-Zaim checkpoint near Ma’aleh Adumim, just outside of Jerusalem. A 45-year-old male police officer was lightly wounded as a result of the explosion.

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed and injured four Israelis, leaving one in serious condition near Hadera in northern Israel, an Israeli police spokesperson said.

Micky Rosenfeld told Ma'an that Israeli police had arrested the Palestinian with Israeli citizenship without injuring him, and he was being questioned.

One Israeli woman was seriously injured in the attack, Rosenfeld said.

Israeli news site Haaretz reported that the woman was a 19-year-old Israeli soldier.

It reported that the attack took place at the Alon Junction on Route 65, and also left a 14-year-old girl in moderate condition.

There have been a series of stabbing attacks carried out by Palestinians in recent days.

Israeli forces have shot dead many of the alleged Palestinian attackers, including two Palestinians outside Jerusalem's Old City on Saturday.

In some cases, observers have called into question Israel's allegations that the Palestinians were actually involved in attacks, with video footage appearing to contradict the Israeli accounts in several cases.

A stabbing attack in Jerusalem's Old City on Oct. 3 left two Israelis dead and injured two others, including a two-year-old child.
Israeli military and settler reprisals that followed the attack -- as well as a shooting two days before that killed two Israeli settlers south of Nablus -- played a large role in fueling the surge of protests across the occupied Palestinian territory.

Well over 1,000 Palestinians have been injured in the days since, with 24 Palestinians killed, the majority shot dead during clashes with Israeli soldiers.
