MK Moti Yogev (Habayit Hayehudi) was documented on Tuesday shouting at an Arab resident of East Jerusalem in the Old City, cursing at her and physically engaging police personnel who attempted to assist her. In a video clip published by Channel 2, Yogev is seen shouting at her “go to the grave,” while she curses at him.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Habayit Hayehudi faction held a meeting in the Old City of Jerusalem near the scene of Saturday night’s stabbing attack in which Nehemia Lavi and Aharon Bennett were killed. Yogev opened an office at that location.
According to the Channel 2 report, a group of Jews traveled to the scene of the attack, including Yogev. When the Arab woman in question passed by, Yogev tried to prevent her from passing and shouted at her: “You will not pass here, Jews only.”
Yogev engaged police personnel on the scene who tried to assist the Palestinian woman, and demanded that they arrest her. Yogev shouted at the police, “she mustn’t shout here.”
Yogev’s actions were cheered by onlookers, who chanted “Am Yisrael Chai.”
Habayit Hayehudi party leader, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, said during the faction meeting, “I came to the Old City to be with the residents and met determined residents, but strong feelings of imperilment in some alleyways and streets. We’re here and we came to tell the Old City residents – we’re with you.”
“Abu Mazen [Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas] stands with the Islamic Movement that leads incitement about the Temple Mount, and calls for the release of murderous terrorists from jail,” Bennet said. “I say clearly – forget about it. No more terrorists will be released from Israeli jails. The principle that guides us now on this street in the Old City is the same as it is on Ibn Gvirol Street in Tel Aviv. No spitting, no shouting, no harassment, no stone throwing and no fire bombs. A zero-tolerance policy.”
