JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian suspect was detained after an Israeli man was stabbed and injured Thursday near a main road in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, Israeli police said.
Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld told Ma'an the Palestinian suspect was apprehended and the Israeli man was left in serious condition.
Israeli media reported that the victim, a 25-year-old Haredi man, was taken for treatment at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
The suspect was identified asSubhi Abu Khalifa, 19.
The attack took place near the light rail and Highway 1, a main thoroughfare cutting West to East across northern Jerusalem and crossing through areas currently site to high tensions after ongoing attacks.
Israeli media reported the incident took place near the Israeli National Police Headquarters located in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem.
On Wednesday, an 18-year-old Palestinian was shot four times in her chest by an Israeli civilian after stabbing a 35-year-old Israeli man in occupied East Jerusalem's Old City.
Two Israelis were killed in stabbing attacks in the Old City on Saturday night and the Palestinian suspects were shot dead.
Israeli police initiated a 48-hour ban on Palestinian entrance to the area following the attack which is still in place up until today.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces blew up two homes and sealed another as "collective punishment for attacks perpetrated by relatives of the people living in the three homes," displacing 11, according to Israeli rights group B'Tselem.
