AL-KHALIL, (PIC)-- Dozens of Jewish settlers at dawn Friday attacked the village of Khirbat Tuwwana, to the east of Yatta in the southern West Bank al-Khalil district.
Rateb al-Jbour, coordinator for the popular committees to resist the wall and settlement building in al-Khalil said: “Dozens of settlers attacked at dawn today Khirabt Tuwwana to the east of Yatta with the aim of terrorising the residents, stealing their livestock and violate their property.”
He stressed, in a press release on Friday, that the aggression by the settlers took place under the watching eyes occupation soldiers who did nothing to stop the attack, however the villagers confronted the settlers and prevented them from entering the village.
For his part, Azmi al-Shayoukhi, Secretary General of the Popular Committees, praised the vigilance popular guard committees in Tuwwana which foiled the settlers' attack.
Shayoukhi further said that the Israeli occupation soldiers in large numbers surrounded the village preventing Palestinians from nearby villages from reaching Tuwwana to help its residents defend their property.
He further said that settlers from the Daboya settlement outpost organized a night march on Thursday night towards the Ibrahimi mosque, during which they chanted death to Arabs and Palestinians and other racist and insulting slogans against Muslims and their Prophet.
He added that the settlers in the march terrorised Palestinian residents living in the Sahla street and Shuhada street, as the settlers aim for the ethnic cleansing of al-Khalil, especially the area around the Ibrahimi mosque.
