JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli troops detained seven Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy, during dawn raids across the West Bank and East Jerusalem Monday.

A lawyer for Addameer prisoners' rights group Muhammad Mahmoud told Ma'an that Israeli police stormed houses in Jerusalem's Old City and apprehended 15-year-old Mufeed Iseid, Huthaifah Shreitih, 20, and Fahd al-Shalabi, 22.

An Israeli police spokesman was unable to confirm the arrests.

In Nablus in the northern West Bank, witnesses said Israeli soldiers stopped Palestinian vehicles for inspection at a flying checkpoint and detained two young men. The two are yet to be identified.

Another Palestinian man was apprehended at Hamra checkpoint, a major Israeli military checkpoint in the northern Jordan Valley. Sources identified the man as Adnan Mustafa Abu Hatab, 25, from Ein Shibly village north of Nablus.

Israeli forces also detained Milad Ahmad Abbadi from the village of Tura in the northern West Bank district of Jenin. According to family members, Abbadi was detained at the main entrance to Jericho where he studies at al-Istiqlal University.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was looking into the arrests.

Israeli forces routinely detain Palestinians throughout the West Bank, often on the pretext of perceived security threat, and Addameer estimates that 40 percent of the Palestinian male population has been arrested at some point.

More than 6,000 Palestinian prisoners are currently being held in Israeli jails.
