Description
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 100 Palestinians in the Hebron district in March, including 25 children, a prisoner rights group said Monday.
Amjad Najjar, head of the Palestinian Prisoner's Society in Hebron, said 34 of the 100 detained were transferred to administrative detention, with 18 said to be students.
A total of 25,000 shekels ($6,300) of fines was imposed on the prisoners.
One woman, Sanaa Jabarin was detained and released after paying a fine.
Israeli forces routinely arrest Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, usually on the pretext of security questioning.
Israeli authorities have issued 319 administrative detention orders for Palestinians since the beginning of 2015, six times as many as they did the previous year.
There were over 6,000 Palestinians detained in Israeli jails as of April 1, 2015, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Society.
