RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities renewed the administrative detention orders of 30 Palestinian detainees on Wednesday, a lawyer from the Palestinian Prisoner's Society said.

Mahmoud al-Halabi said an Israeli court extended the detention sentences of 30 prisoners, including MP Nayif al-Rujoub, and issued new sentences to six detainees.

The policy allows Israeli military forces to arrest Palestinians without charge or trial for varying periods of time, ranging from months to several years.

Currently around 500 Palestinians are being held in administrative detention in Israeli prisons.
