BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian was shot and injured east of Jerusalem on Wednesday after stabbing two Israelis in a Rami Levy supermarket, Israeli police said.

The unidentified 16-year-old reportedly stabbed and moderately injured two Israelis in a store in the Mishor Adumim industrial zone of the Maale Adumim settlement.

An off-duty Israeli security guard shot and injured the suspect.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told Ma'an the Palestinian suspect was taken by a security guard to Ein Karem hospital for treatment.

Rosenfeld wrote on Twitter that the suspect was in a "serious condition."

The Israeli news site Ynet reported that two Palestinians were arrested on suspicion of aiding the attacker.

Initial media reports said the suspect had been killed.

Victims taken to hospital in moderate condition; Palestinian assailant shot by off-duty security guard.

Two Israelis were wounded in a stabbing attack in a supermarket near an Israeli West Bank settlement on Wednesday.

Police said a 16-year-old Palestinian entered the Rami Levy supermarket in Mishor Adumim industrial park, located near the settlement of Ma'aleh Adumim, and stabbed two people. Police said they were treating the incident as a terrorist attack.

The assailant was then shot by an off-duty security guard who works at the Prime Minister's Office.

The victims, both men in their 50s, suffered moderate wounds, emergency services said. They were evacuated by Magen David Adom to Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem. Emergency medical services said the attacker was in moderate condition.

One of the victims is a member of the Magen David Adom paramedic who confronted the assailant.

The assailant and two other suspects have been placed under arrest. One of the suspects is an employee at the supermarket.

The Shin Bet said the attacker has no prior arrests.

On Monday, an Israeli civilian was lightly wounded after she was stabbed at the Gush Etzion Junction. Later on Monday, an Israeli bus traveling near the Shilo junction was attacked and sustained damage; Israeli security forces were checking whether the bus was hit by gunfire or stones.

After a brief pursuit for the stabber in the first incident, Israeli security forces shot the alleged attacker, a woman said to be about 20 years old. She was evacuated to Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem, for treatment, according to paramedics.
