BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces arrested five Palestinians in the West Bank overnight, witnesses and an Israeli army spokeswoman said Sunday.

Witnesses told Ma'an several Israeli military vehicles stormed Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem around 2 a.m. and that troops ransacked several houses before detaining Hussein Salih Abu Akar, a former prisoner.

Soldiers also delivered summons for interrogation to Palestinian residents of the Bethlehem district overnight, witnesses said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman told Ma'an five Palestinians were detained overnight. She said three Palestinians were "suspected for involvement in illegal riots" and unspecified "terror against forces and civilians."

Two of them were affiliated with Hamas, she said.

Three were arrested near Ramallah, one near Bethlehem, and one near Hebron, the spokeswoman added.
