Description
November 1, 2014 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians Saturday suffocated by tear gas as Israeli forces suppressed a peaceful demonstration organized to protest the Israeli closure of the road linking the villages of Surif and Al Jab'a . . ., according to WAFA correspondent.
The road linking the two areas has been closed off for 14 years by the Israeli authorities; Israel closed off the road with metal gates, rocks and sand barriers to facilitate safe movement for settlers traveling in and out of Gush Etzion settlement bloc to the north of Hebron, cutting off the two villages from each other.
Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, tear gas and acoustic canisters toward the demonstration which was organized by the popular committees against the wall and settlement, causing dozens to suffocate by tear gas inhalation. Forces also attacked protesters with the butts of their rifles.
WAFA correspondent reported that protesters managed to break down the locks on the metal gates separating the two villages.
