Description
SALFIT, October 23, 2014 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities retracted an order to seize 15 dunums of land that belong to a Palestinian resident of the village of Bruqin, in the West Bank district of Salfit, reported the Slafit Governorate Department.
Last year, Israel issued an order to seize the area and transfer it into a ‘state’ property. A legal plea submitted by the Anti-Settlement Committee before the Israeli court of ‘Ofer’ rendered the order a failure based on legal paperwork testifying to the legal land ownership.
Since 1967, Israel took control over hundreds of thousands of dunums throughout the West Bank, with the primary objective of establishing settlements and providing reserves of land for their expansion, said B’Tselem, an Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories.
Israel deployed a complex legal-bureaucratic mechanism to declare and register the land as 'state proprety.'
