Description
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 11 Palestinians from across East Jerusalem late Tuesday, as a campaign across the city that has led to nearly 800 arrests continued into its third month.
The Palestinian Prisoner's Society said that Israeli forces detained the individuals in Jerusalem's Old City, in Shufat refugee camp and the neighboring Shufat neighborhood, and as well as from Beit Safafa in southern Jerusalem.
All the neighborhoods are in East Jerusalem, which has been under Israeli military occupation since 1967.
The Prisoner's Society said that Jihad Maswada, 21, Ahmad Idris, Muhammad Abu Sbeih, and Inaam Qalimbo were taken from the Old City, while Ibrahim al-Jamal, Mahmoud Hassunah, Samer Shihada, Muhammad Ideis, 17, Ahmad Abu Khdeir and Ali Ideis were detained from Shufat town and refugee camp.
The society identified Youssef Jawarish, 16, as the individual detained in Beit Safafa.
Inaam Qalimbo, who was detained in the Old City, has been previously held in Israeli jails.
Israeli authorities in East Jerusalem launched an arrest campaign in early June after three Israel teenagers disappeared in the West Bank, and stepped it up amid widespread protests following the racially-motivated killing of a 16-year old Palestinian in East Jerusalem.
