[Monday, June 16, 2014] Israeli soldiers continued their massive arrest campaign, and military invasions, and kidnapped Dr. Aziz Dweik, head of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), along with Legislators Bassem az-Za’arir and Azzam Salhab.
The Ahrar Center for Detainees’ Studies and Human Rights, has denounced the ongoing Israeli military campaign targeting dozens of Palestinian civilians, and their elected leaders, in addition to various social figures.
“Kidnapping elected Palestinian leaders, representatives and officials is part of Israel’s ongoing aggression,” the Center stated. “Israel must be obliged to stop its violations against the Palestinian people, and their leaders.”
The Center said that the soldiers also kidnapped Sheikh Jawad Bahar, Adeeb and his brother Amin al-Qawasmi, Tahseen al-Jo’ba, Jasser Qteil, Anas Rasras, Hamza Zghayyar, Monther Hreiz, Amro Obeid, Eyad al-Qawasmi, Adnan Ismael Zreiqat, Abdul-Rahman Issa Shalalda, Bajes Mohammad Abu Aisha, Ezzeddeen Shihda Abu Sneina, Ahmad Abu Shkeidem, Mohammad Fayez Al-Yasoury, along with three brothers identified as Jamil, Karim and Akram Ismael Abu Aisha.
Soldiers also kidnapped Mahmoud Hazem al-Bakry, Maher Mousa Shiokhy, Mohannad Issam az-Za’tary, Hasan Mohammad al-Haddad, Shadi al-Oweiwy, Hazem Sharabaty and Ala’ Dofash.
Also on Monday, soldiers invaded the al-Jalzoun refugee camp, kidnapped one Palestinian, shot and killed a former political prisoner, identified as Ahmad Arafat Sabbareen, 21 years of age. http://www.imemc.org/article/68119
In Nablus District, in the northern part of the West Bank, the soldiers kidnapped an elderly man identified as Maher al-Kharraz, and Issa al-Maseemy, detained and interrogated several young men for several hours in Tal nearby village.
In Salfit, soldiers kidnapped a former political prisoner identified as Rami Salman, residents Mohammad Khalifa and Ghassan Najajra in Bethlehem, and Osama Badran in Tulkarem.
The Ahrar Center said that dozens of arrests have been carried out in different parts of the occupied West Bank, as part of the ongoing Israeli invasions and arrest campaign.
