NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces stormed the northern West Bank village of Asira al-Qibliya south of Nablus before dawn Sunday and detained eight young men.
Palestinian security sources told Ma'an that more than eight military vehicles stormed the village and ransacked several homes before detaining eight young activists involved with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a leftist political group and member organization of the PLO.
The sources said that Israeli soldiers caused damage to the interior of the houses during inspections which were described as "violent."
The sources identified seven of the detainees as Nasr Fathi Asayra, Nimir Fathi Asayra, Muatasim Salih, Muhammad Fawwaz Salih, Muhammad Abdul-Rahman Ahmad, Khalid Ahmad, and Jihad Jamil Asayra.
An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed the arrests, saying they had been detained for "illegal activity."
