Description
BETHLEHEM, April 8, 2014 – (WAFA) – Israeli forces notified, late on Monday, two residents of al-Walaja, a village located to the northwest of Bethlehem of their intentions to demolish their homes under the pretext of being built without a permit, according to a local official.
Head of al-Walaja Local Village Council, ‘Abdul Rahman Abu at-Tin told WAFA that forces stormed al-Walaja and placed the demolition notices on the front walls of the houses intended to be demolished in ‘Ayn Jweiza.
The demolition orders came under the pretext of being built without building permits in an area that falls under the full Israeli control.
Abu at-Tin added that one of the two houses is a two-story building, equipped with a well and surrounded by a wall, that is undergoing the latest stage of construction work, while the other is a 150 square-meter one-story house.
He noted that the area is systematically targeted as the Israeli army had demolished several houses over the last few years and few weeks ago the army handed demolition notices for seven houses; however the families managed to obtain a temporary hold on the notices from an Israeli court.
