Description
JENIN, (PIC)-- The Palestinian Authority security services Saturday afternoon stormed the home of senior member of the Islamic Jihad Palestinian resistance group Bassam al-Saadi, 50, from the West Bank city of Jenin, after arresting earlier his son Izzuddin, 24, in the commercial district.
More than five PA security patrols surrounded Saadi’s home at around 1pm, sources close to the Saadis told our correspondent. After about an hour into the blockade following arguing, the security forces entered the home by force and thoroughly searched it.
Meanwhile, the source added, arguments broke out between an official from the force and some of Saadi’s relatives who fled from the home after orders were made for their arrest. The force opened fire at them without report of injury.
Saadi was released by the Israeli occupation authorities on 10 March after spending eight years behind bars in a five-year sentence that should have ended in 2008. The last three years he spent were in administrative detention without charge or trial.
Two of his sons, Ibrahim and Abdul-Karim, as well as his mother died in the battle of Jenin in April 2002.
