Description
JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a former Palestinian prisoner and his wife late Sunday, a Palestinian activist said.
Ahmad al-Bitawi, an employee for the Solidarity Foundation for Human Rights, told Ma'an that Israeli forces detained a Palestinian woman from the Jenin-area village of Yaabad at the Allenby Bridge crossing as she was returning from Jordan.
When her husband, former prisoner Adnan Hamarsha, was on his way to the bridge to check on his wife, he was stopped at an Israeli checkpoint and taken into custody, al-Bitawi said.
A spokesman for the Israeli airport control did not immediately return to calls or emails seeking comment.
Hamarsha has spent more than 10 years in Israeli jails.
The Israeli-controlled Allenby Bridge is the principal land connection between the occupied West Bank and the outside world.
