JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained seven Palestinians across the West Bank in overnight raids, an army spokesperson told Ma'an, while local sources reported additional arrests.
A spokeswoman for the Israeli army said that Israeli forces detained five Palestinians in Yabad, one in Beit Ummar, and one in Yatta.
Locals in the northern West Bank additionally reported two arrests in Kafr Qaddum, but the army spokeswoman said that "after initial checks," she could not find evidence that Israeli soldiers had made any arrests in the area.
In Yabad, Israeli forces raided several houses and made several arrests, locals told Ma'an, naming Mamoun Hamarsheh, 36, Odai Yousef Hamarsheh, 23, Sami Ragheb Kilani, 22, and 22-year old Abdullah Kamel Hirzallah as being among those arrested.
Meanwhile, three Israeli military vehicles patrolled the southern entrance of the city of Jenin, and clashes broke out between Israeli forces and local Palestinians, locals said.
Witnesses said Israeli soldiers fired tear gas grenades and sound bombs toward the Palestinians. No detentions were reported.
The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
