RAMALLAH, October 22, 2013 (WAFA) – A cameraman working for the Ramallah-based Wattan TV was shot in the head by a rubber-coated metal bullet on Tuesday fired by Israeli soldiers while covering the events at Bilin, west of Ramallah.
Wattan TV said its cameraman Amjad Shouman was hit in the head and injured while trying to film the clashes between Bilin residents and Israeli soldiers who earlier raided the village and killed Muhammad Asi, 28.
Shouman said from his hospital bed in Ramallah that he and his colleague Aysar Barghouti were shot at when they were filming the clashes. He said he believes the soldiers opened fire at them intentionally because they were the only people in that area.
Barghouti said he and Shouman told the soldiers that they were reporters but that the soldiers continued to fire tear gas and rubber bullets in their direction hitting Shouman in the head and smashing the back window of their car.
Shouman was reported in stable condition in hospital with bleeding and swelling in the head.
