Description
NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Dozens of settlers set fire to Palestinian agricultural fields east of Nablus on Wednesday, a Palestinian Authority official said.
Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, told Ma'an that a mob of settlers raided agricultural fields in the villages of Azmut and Deir al-Hatab and set fire to olive groves.
Dozens of olive trees were destroyed and several acres of land torched, Daghlas said.
The settlers came down from the neighboring Elon Moreh settlement.
Settlers routinely attack Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank with impunity, with the Nablus district subject to a particularly high number of settler attacks.
Annual figures compiled by Israeli rights group Yesh Din have repeatedly shown that nine out of 10 police investigations about settler crimes fail to lead to a prosecution.
