NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Extremist settlers set fire to over 50 acres of Palestinian fields in the northern West Bank on Monday, a Palestinian Authority official said.
Residents of Yitzhar settlement torched fields in the Khallat al-Injas neighborhood of Madama, and the fire spread to adjacent fields owned by Burin villagers, said Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities.
Five acres of wheat fields were destroyed in the fire, Daghlas told Ma'an.
Palestinian fire service officials on Monday said about 1,000 almond and olive trees were torched.
An Israeli military spokesman said one of the fires was set by "Israeli civilians" and the other by Palestinians themselves. He did not elaborate.
