Wednesday evening, May 8 2013, dozens of extremist Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian cars at the entrance of Nabi Saleh village, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and hurled stones at them. Settlers also attacked the village leading to clashes with the locals.

Local sources reported that settlers of the “Halamish” illegal settlement, gathered in the area and closed the main road that connects several villages with Ramallah, and hurled stones at dozens of Palestinian cars causing damage.

Israeli soldiers arrived at the scene and attacked the residents while trying to force them out of the area instead of removing the invading settlers, the sources added.

Furthermore, a group of settlers attacked Nabi Saleh village, and clashed with local youths before Israeli soldiers invaded the village and fired rounds of live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and gas bombs.

The Media Office of the Popular Resistance Committee in Nabi Saleh reported that the settlers carried out numerous attacks against the villagers, and considered the attacks as “acts of terrorism that aim at terrorizing the villagers who conduct ongoing nonviolent activities against the occupation and settlements”.

The Committee called on the residents to remain united and to continue their resistance against Israel’s illegal occupation, its illegal settlements and Apartheid Wall.

In related news, a number of Israeli settlers closed the Za’tara roadblock, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and hurled stones at several Palestinian cars.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli soldiers, stationed at the roadblock, also attacked the residents and forced them away instead of removing the settlers.
