RAMALLAH, April 1, 2013 (WAFA) – Around 24 children and teens were arrested in the second quarter of March 2013, while tens were injured by Israeli soldiers and settlers, said a report by the Ministry of Information on Monday.
The report said that Israeli forces arrested a 16-year-old boy after he was held at a checkpoint near the town of Jaba’, south of Jenin, and arrested two others aged 17-year-old after raiding their homes west of Jenin.
It stated that soldiers arrested another 12 from Hebron and three from the village of Hares, northwest of Salfit. The arrested were lead to an unknown destination.
In the Gaza Strip, a 15-year-old boy was arrested east of Deir al-Balah while Israeli police arrested two children between the ages of 14 and 12 after they were assaulted by an Israeli settler on their way to school in Wadi al-Hilweh neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of Jerusalem.
The report stated that soldiers arrested an 18-year-old boy from Tulkarm and a 15-year-old from Ramallah after raiding their homes.
Two boys between the ages of 15 and 18 were arrested in Husan town, west of Bethlehem, and al-Issawiya town in Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, settlers assaulted a seven-year-old boy in Jerusalem by throwing empty glass bottles towards him; he was transferred to hospital to receive treatment.
According to the report, a 4-year-old boy was run over by a settler in Hebron and a 10-year-old was attacked by settlers in Hebron; he sustained severe injuries after he was brutally beaten up by Israeli soldiers.
The report said that seven Palestinians, mostly children were injured in an explosion of a suspicious object south of Gaza.
Seven children sustained injuries after they were attacked by settlers near the illegal settlement of Yitzhar, south of Nablus, while on their way back from a school trip. Two others were injured during clashes in Ramallah and Bethlehem, said the Ministry’s report.
