Settlers uproot olive trees south of Bethlehem

06:11 Mar 28 2013 al-Khader

Description
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli settlers uprooted hundreds of olive trees and saplings in al-Khader village south of Bethlehem early Thursday morning, activists said.

Ahmad Salah, the coordinator of popular committee against settlements and the wall in al-Khader, told Ma’an that a group of settlers from Nevi Daniel were behind the incident.

The land is owned by Ahmad Nabhan Mousa, and the settlers uprooted about 200 olive trees planted a year ago by the local YMCA. They also sprayed graffiti saying “Stone uprising”.

Salah noted that the attack came soon after Israel's approval to allow settlers into the village. Salah said that the committee would re-plant the trees and the saplings.
