Today in Masafer Yatta, the so declared "Firing Zone 918" by the Israel Defense Force, where about 1000 people live, the atmosphere has been tense and uncertain.

According to two international volunteers, who were visiting families in the villages, since yesterday more than one hundred soldiers installed their tents outside the military base camp, in front of Jinba village. In addition, they decided to camp between Jinba and Mirkez villages (about one kilometer far each other), where they started to make military exercises, damaging Palestinian fields.

When the internationals asked to the soldiers the reason of their presence in an inhabited area, they replied that they are planning to use the area for their trainings for at least one week.

Their presence is causing movement restriction to the shepherds and their families. Moreover, their deafening exercises are affecting the residents who feel unsafe and vulnerable.
