Bethlehem - Wednesday January 23; Palestinian medical sources reported that a Palestinian child from the Al-Azza refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, died of serious injuries he suffered last Friday during clashes that took place in the camp between dozens of youths and Israeli soldiers.

The child, Saleh Al-Amareen, 15, was shot by a live round in the head, and remained in a critical condition at the local hospital in the city until he died of his injuries on Wednesday.

Hundreds of residents participated in the funeral and burial ceremonies that took place on Wednesday evening.

Following the funeral, clashes took place between local youths and the Israeli army; the soldiers fired dozens of gas bombs and rubber-coated metal bullets at the youths who hurled stones at them.

Abdul-Halim Ja’afra, head of the Emergency Unit at the Red Crescent in Bethlehem, reported that 10 Palestinians have been injured, including seven who were treated by field medics, while the remaining three were moved to the Beit Jala Government hospital.

Also on Wednesday, a Palestinian woman identified as Lobna Hannash, 21, from Bethlehem, was shot and killed by Israeli military fire near the Al-Arroub Agricultural College, close to the Al-Arroub Refugee Camp in Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank.

At least two Palestinians have been injured in the attack.

The Palestinian President’s Office in Ramallah strongly denounced the killing of the two Palestinians, and stated that “the crimes committed by the army are part of ongoing violations carried out by the occupation”, adding that “Israeli soldiers are committing their crimes with impunity knowing that they can get away unpunished”.

The President’s Office called on the International Community to intervene and hold Israel accountable for its crimes and ongoing violations of International Law.
