JENIN, October 24, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday destroyed five artesian wells and a water spring in the village of Kufr Dan, east of Jenin under the pretext of being built without permit, according to local sources.
They told WAFA that two Israeli bulldozers, protected by Israeli forces, stormed several agricultural farms in the village, destroyed five artesian wells and a water spring, and caused severe damage to the crops.
They said the village of Kufr dan is considered the main source of water in west of Jenin area, providing many residents with drinking water.
Governor of Jenin Talal Dwekat condemned this Israeli measure saying, “The Israeli occupation measures violate basic human rights.”
He said this measure deprives tens of farmers of irrigating their crops in light of the bad economy, calling upon all local and international human rights organizations to intervene to stop these Israeli measures.
Israeli forces demolished around 20 water wells in the village during the last year, causing severe financial loss.
