Description
RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) refused to allow the travel for medical treatment of Abdulqaher Surour, who was released from its jails only two months ago.
Family members said that Surour, 40, was suffering from heart ailment for 25 years and was blocked by the IOA at Karame crossing from heading to Jordan to seek medical treatment.
They said that Israeli intelligence agents at the crossing told Surrour, from Nilin village in Ramallah, that he was not allowed to travel for “security reasons” and that he should meet an intelligence officer near Ofer jail.
Surrour was released after 50 months of detention which were preceded by one year of administrative detention. Surrour worked as office director for Dr. Aziz Dweik, the speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, and is known for his affiliation with Hamas movement.
The family appealed to human rights groups and free people of the world to immediately intervene and demand treatment for Surrour abroad after his health condition badly worsened especially after serving five years in occupation jails.
