Description
by IMEMC & Agencies Report post
Israel soldiers invaded, on Thursday morning, Dir Nitham village, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and handed a resident a military order informing him that the army intends to demolish his home.
The army claims that the home, located in Area “C”, under Israeli control, was built without a construction permit. The home is only 50 meters away from area B in Ramallah.
Clashes were reported in the village after dozens of youth hurled stones and empty bottles at the invading army. Soldiers fired gas bomb and rubber-coated metal bullets; no injuries were reported.
Area A in the West Bank falls under full Palestinian civil and security “control” although the army invades it nearly on a daily basis. Area B is under Palestinian civil control and “joint” Israeli-Palestinian security control (but the army has been operating in Palestinian communities in area B), area C is under full Israeli military and security control; its size is around %72 of the occupied West Bank.
Under the Oslo peace agreements, and the agreements that followed, Israel was supposed to conduct gradual withdrawals to hand control to the Palestinian Authority, but it continued to build and expand illegal settlements, and military basis, in different parts of the West Bank.
Israel insists on what it calls “it right” to build and expand settlements on the expense of the Palestinian in the occupied West Bank, including in occupied East Jerusalem. Settlements are illegal under International Law and the Fourth Geneva Conventions.
