NABLUS (Ma‘an) 11 July -- A 35 year-old woman from Nablus was released by Israeli authorities on Sunday, after spending two years in Israeli jails. Nelly Zahi As-Safadi was incarcerated in the Israeli prison Hasharon, and was due for release a month ago, according to Ahmad Al-Betawi, a researcher with the International Solidarity Organization.
Al-Betawi said As-Safadi was detained at an Israeli military checkpoint at the entrance to Ramallah in November 2009, as she was traveling to visit her brother. Israeli forces took her to an interrogation center in Petah Tekva near Jerusalem, where she was interrogated and physically and psychologically tortured over three months, Al-Betawi said ...
