Description
NABLUS (Ma’an) – Israeli authorities freed Friday a Hamas activist from Nablus in the northern West Bank after 10 months in custody, a human rights group said.
Al-Tadamon (Solidarity) for Human Rights said Shaikh Samih Eleiwi, 50, was released from Israel's Megiddo prison after the group’s lawyer Muhammad al-Abid obtained a court decision to release him.
Eleiwi was detained on Dec. 12, 2011 after Israeli troops stormed his home in Nablus. He joined the Palestinian prisoners’ hunger strike for 20 days while in custody.
