NABLUS (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces raided the Awarta village east of Nablus and ransacked homes early Thursday, the head of the local municipality said, as 13 Palestinians were detained overnight.
Sami Awwad told Ma'an that forces entered the town at about 1 a.m. with more than 20 military vehicles and ransacked homes.
They questioned three people -- Baha Darawsha, Muhammad Abadat, and Mahmoud Darawsha -- and searched their homes along with the house of Jibril Awad.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said four people in Awarta were briefly detained. Thirteen others were arrested elsewhere in the West Bank, the spokeswoman said.
Four people were detained in Azzun village, one each from Qalqiliya and Dura, near Hebron, two in Battir and five in Beit Awa, the spokeswoman said.
Two of those seized in Azzun were teenagers, the Palestinian prisoners society said, naming them as Laith Rabi Ahmad Rabi, 15, and Mohammad Abed al-Fatah Othman Radwan, 15.
In Qalqiliya, forces detained the sister of a man jailed in Israel, the society added. Olfat Mahmud Affaneh 38, was seized from her home overnight. Her brother Muhammad has been detained by Israel since July 27.
The society said 18 Palestinians had been detained by Israeli forces in Qalqiliya this month.
The army spokeswoman said the detainees were transferred to security forces for questioning.
A Palestinian was also detained at a checkpoint in Hebron because they were carrying a knife, she said.
Locals identified the detainee as Malika Kamel Omran, 24. She was detained while trying to enter Hebron's Ibrahimi Mosque and found to have a knife in her bag, they said.
