The coordinator of the popular committee against settlements in al-Khader, Ahmad Salah, said that settlers put up a 30 foot military tower in an agricultural area just west of the town while under the protection of the Israeli military. A mobile home was also placed there a week ago by Israeli soldiers.

Salah reported that the tower will be used by the military to monitor and control Palestinian farmers in the area as the grape harvest season is approaching. He also says that this is all part of the effort to seize the land to establish and expand settlements.

All Israeli settlements are illegal under international and Israeli law; however the Israeli military regularly defies these laws, apparently with the approval of the Israeli government.
