In its Weekly Report On Israeli Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories for the week of 05– 11 July 2012, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) found that Israeli forces use force to disperse peaceful protest organized by Palestinian civilians in the West Bank, wounding 4 Palestinian civilians. In addition, Israeli forces launched a number of air strikes and opened fire at areas in the Gaza Strip, wounding a Palestinian civilian.
Also this week, Israeli forces abducted two Palestinian civilians and 3 human rights defenders at non-violent protests, 26 Palestinians, including 7 children, during incursions into the West Bank, and two Palestinian civilians, including a child, who attempted to cross the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel to search for jobs inside Israel.
Israeli attacks in the West Bank:
During the reporting period, Israeli forces conducted at least 63 military incursions into Palestinian communities in the West Bank. During these incursions, Israeli forces abducted 26 Palestinians, including 7 children.
In just one example of this week's 63 invasions, on Wednesday July 11th at approximately 01:30, Israeli forces moved into Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron. They raided and searched a number of houses and abducted Jalal Qassem al-Ra’ei, 42. Al-Ra’ei is a worker who sustained a fracture to the right foot two weeks ago. Israeli forces also fired a sound bomb at a nearby house belonging to Nemer ‘Olayan Ekhlil. As a result fire broke out in trees and olives near the house.
