BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli authorities released on Thursday Firas Jarrar, 39, from Al-Jadid village near Jenin, after he spend one year in administrative detention, a prisoners group said.
Fuad Al-Khafsh, the director of the Ahrar center for the study of prisoners and human rights, said that Jarrar was detained without charge in late June 2011 and was released Thursday.
Jarrar spent 16 years in prison before being released in 2009, he added.
The ex-detainee told the center that all administrative detainees are appealing for attention to their cause and hope international organizations will compel Israel to stop detaining people without charge.
