GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities released Palestinian member of parliament Anwar al-Zaboun on Monday after holding him in detention without charge for 10 months, a prisoners group said.
Al-Zaboun, who is from Bethlehem and was elected on the Hamas-affiliated Change and Reform list, was detained by Israeli forces on Aug. 26, 2011, the Center for Prisoners Studies said.
He was held under laws allowing renewable six-term detention terms without legal charges. His detention order was renewed once in jail, but authorities released him at the end of his second term of imprisonment.
The center said 25 other members of the Palestinian Legislative Council remain in Israeli jails, including three former ministers.
Ten days ago Israel released another lawmaker, Ayman Daraghmeh who also represents Change and Reform, after holding him for six months in administrative detention.
