Israeli occupation forces launched a wave of invasions and abductions across the occupied West Bank early Monday, targeting Palestinian towns, refugee camps, and the homes of detainees’ families in a coordinated campaign of repression timed to coincide with the scheduled release of political prisoners under a ceasefire agreement.
In the central West Bank, Israeli troops stormed homes in Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate, focusing on families of detainees slated for release.
Towns affected included Abwein, Mazari’ al-Nubani, ‘Arura, Beit Rima, Kafr Ni’ma, Deir Ibzi’, ‘Ein ‘Arik, Nabi Saleh, Ni’lin, Deir Jarir, Silwad, and neighborhoods in al-Bireh such as Umm al-Sharayet and al-Am’ari refugee camp.
Occupation forces threatened relatives with retaliation if they displayed any signs of joy or celebration.
At military roadblocks north of Ramallah, soldiers intensified their presence, harassing civilians and blocking dozens of vehicles entering the city.
In the northern West Bank, Israeli troops abducted Hilal Mohammad Azar from his home in Nablus and invaded nearby villages including Zawata and Beit Iba, conducting house-to-house searches.
Earlier, in the Shakara area east of Duma village, illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers assaulted Palestinian homes and obstructed schoolchildren on their way to class.
At dawn, dozens of colonizers—escorted by Israeli soldiers—invaded the eastern part of Nablus and headed toward Joseph’s Tomb.
The military preemptively invaded the area with bulldozers, firing stun grenades and tear gas, which caused multiple cases of suffocation among residents.
South of Bethlehem, in Deheishe refugee camp, Israeli forces abducted 18-year-old Mohammad Mousa Herzallah after ransacking his family’s home.
Meanwhile, in the village of Umm Safa northwest of Ramallah, colonizers carried out two separate attacks on Palestinian homes under military protection.
They targeted the home of Nadim Khasayeb with stones, damaging solar panels, windows, and a water tank. Hours later, they returned to assault additional homes before being repelled by local residents.
Additionally, Israeli soldiers intensified restrictions at the Tayasir military roadblock on Monday morning, further obstructing Palestinian access to the northern Jordan Valley. Human rights activist Aref Daraghma stated that soldiers closed the roadblock in line with a degrading schedule recently imposed on Palestinian movement through the area.
The Tayasir roadblock has been a site of ongoing repression for over two years, with Israeli forces routinely closing it for extended periods and disrupting traffic.
In recent weeks, authorities have enforced a daily opening and closing schedule, severely limiting freedom of movement for residents and farmers in the region.
Also, the soldiers invaded the home of detainee Ahmad Ka’abna in Aqabat Jabr refugee camp near Jericho in northeastern West Bank, searched the property, and warned his family against holding any celebrations or traveling abroad to receive him.
Ka’abna has been imprisoned since April 26, 1997, and is serving two life sentences plus six additional years.
These coordinated military invasions and settler assaults underscore Israel’s ongoing campaign of collective punishment and intimidation against Palestinians, even as international mediation proceeds with the release of detainees.
