On Wednesday evening, Israeli undercover soldiers kidnapped an injured Palestinian journalist while he was traveling along the main road connecting Bethlehem and Hebron in the occupied West Bank.
Media sources reported that the undercover soldiers intercepted Muath Amarna’s vehicle, attacked it, dragged him out, and forcibly abducted him.
The sources added that the soldiers forced Amarna into their vehicle and transported him to an unknown location.
It is worth noting that on November 15, 2019, Israeli soldiers shot and seriously injured Amarna while he was covering an Israeli military incursion into the town of Surif, northwest of Hebron in the southern West Bank.
Despite wearing clearly marked press gear, he was struck in the left eye, resulting in its removal and the lodging of shrapnel near his brain.
Amarna was previously abducted on October 16, 2023, and placed under administrative detention, without charge or trial, on October 29 of the same year.
During his nine-month imprisonment, he was subjected to medical neglect despite his critical condition stemming from the 2019 injury and his chronic diabetes. He was released on July 9, 2024.
In related news, undercover Israeli soldiers infiltrated the Al-Masyoun neighborhood in the central West Bank city of Ramallah and abducted a young man.
