Nine people were wounded on Friday in a shooting attack on a bus near the West Bank city of Ariel, three of them seriously, according to Magen David Adom rescue service.

Another victim sustained moderate injuries, and five others – including four soldiers, according to the military – were lightly wounded. The Beilinson Hospital reported that one of the injured is in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation identified the assailant as Samer Hussein, 46, a resident of the Palestinian village of Einabus near Nablus in the West Bank.

Hussein arrived at the Gitai-Avishar junction armed with a firearm and opened fire on the bus. Security forces at the scene returned fire, killing him.

Initial reports suggested a second assailant may have been involved, prompting searches in the area. However, the Israeli military later confirmed that the attacker acted alone.

The Samaria Regional Council said the bus, en route from Tel Aviv to Ariel, was not equipped with bulletproofing.

According to the military, Hussein had been imprisoned in 2003 for planting an explosive device targeting soldiers. Officials believe he received assistance in preparing for the attack and are searching for accomplices.

About two hours after the attack, Hamas' military wing claimed responsibility in a statement on social media.

The military noted no change in the number of warnings about potential attacks but expects an increase in attempted attacks as Ramadan approaches at the end of February.

Israeli forces executed four Palestinian young men, on Sunday, after targeting their vehicle in the village of Sir, south of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that it was informed by the General Authority for Civil Affairs that occupation forces killed four unidentified young men in the village of Sir.

n related news, Israeli forces shot and killed the citizen, Samer Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, 46, on Friday afternoon, after an alleged shooting attack near the illegal “Ariel” settlement, north of Salfit in the central occupied West Bank.

Occupation soldiers opened fire at the man after he allegedly carried out a shooting attack on a bus full of illegal Israeli colonizers near the “Ariel” settlement, built on expropriated Palestinian lands.

Since the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 801 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 168 children, and injured 6,450.
The distribution of those killed in the West Bank is as follows; 222 in Jenin, 182 in Tulkarem, 86 in Nablus, 76 in Hebron, 62 in Tubas, 59 in Ramallah, 48 in occupied Jerusalem, 30 in Qalqilia, 20 in Bethlehem, 12 in Jericho, 12 inside Israel, and 4 in Salfit.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 44,429 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, most of whom are women and children, and injured 105,250 citizens, while the bodies of thousands of citizens remain buried under the rubble of the devastated coastal enclave.
