Early on Monday, the head of the Jenin Governmental Hospital, in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, said Israeli soldiers abused and tortured to death a Palestinian man they abducted from his home at dawn.

Dr. Wisam Bakr said the soldiers abducted Ayman Rajeh ‘Aabed, 50, from his home in Kafr Dan village, northwest of Jenin, after assaulting and wounding him, before taking him to the Salem military roadblock, where he was assaulted again and tortured to death.

Bakr added that the soldiers later handed Ayman’s corpse to Palestinian medics while he was handcuffed and tied before they took him to the Jenin Governmental Hospital where he was examined and found to contain visible signs of beating and torture to various parts of his body.

Ayman Taha, one of Ayman’s relatives, said the latter was abducted from his home at dawn after the soldiers stormed the property and repeatedly assaulted him before taking him to the Salem military roadblock, where he was tortured again.

Taha stated that Ayman was a healthy man without any medical conditions or chronic diseases, and said Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) medics went to the military roadblock where they retrieved his body and took it to the hospital.

His death brings the number of documented and identified detainees who died in captivity, including those who were tortured in interrogation facilities, since October 7, 2023, to 25. This number is only for those who were declared dead by the Israeli authorities, without providing any further information and does not include the dozens who were killed, tortured to death, or denied medical treatment until they died, as Israel still refuses to provide any information, including their names and exact numbers.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army continued its offensive on Jenin and the Jenin refugee camp for the sixth day, causing extensive damage to many homes, cars, public and private property, and infrastructure, including electricity and water networks, and streets.

The army also killed eighteen Palestinians in Jenin, in addition to displacing dozens of families from their homes under direct military evacuation orders.

During the ongoing invasion, the soldiers occupied Khaled Bin Al-Walid mosque in Jenin for several days and used it as a military post. Only after the soldiers withdrew did the locals manage to go to the holy site and observe the serious damage and desecration, including the trash the army left behind, and discarded empty containers of food and water.

Israel has now killed 681 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023, among them 155 children, 9 women, 2 medics and one journalist.

184 of the slain Palestinians are from the Jenin governorate, 143 from Tulkarem, 71 from Nablus, 71 from Hebron, 59 from Ramallah and Al-Biereh, 46 from Tubas, 28 from Qalqilia, 44 from Jerusalem, 19 from Bethlehem, 12 from Jericho and Northern Plains, and 4 in Salfit.
