As the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip entered its 244th day, the occupation army committed a massacre on Thursday morning by bombing a school belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), in which hundreds of displaced people were located, in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

At least 32 civilians were killed and dozens more were seriously injured when an Israeli missile targeted the Nuseirat Preparatory Boys School, which is one of the schools being used as a makeshift shelter for Palestinians in Nuseirat camp, in central Gaza.

An Israeli warplane targeted the upper floors of the school around 2:15 a.m. while the people there were sleeping. The missile penetrated several school classrooms, which led to the deaths and injuries of a large number.

Also in Nuseirat camp, 6 civilians were killed and others were injured as a result of the Israeli occupation warplanes bombing a house belonging to the Al-Madani family in the camp.

The Israeli occupation artillery launched a violent bombardment on the eastern area of the Bureij camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli Quadcopter warplane also opened fire in the vicinity of the Nakheel Hall in the camp.

The occupation artillery bombardment renewed on the east of the Bureij and Al-Maghazi camps in the central Gaza Strip, while the Israeli occupation artillery stationed in the “Netzarim” axis targeted the homes of citizens in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City, and the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of the city.

The Israeli warplanes also launched raids on the neighborhoods of the eastern and central city of Rafah, coinciding with artillery shelling, while the occupation vehicles opened heavy fire towards citizens’ homes east of the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. The occupation artillery fired shells at citizens’ homes east of the town of Al-Qarara, northeast of the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces continued their targeting of the Palestinian professional classes, with the latest assassination being that of a well-known dentist:

Dozens Killed in Israeli Strike on UNRWA School in Gaza; IDF: Hamas Used Building as Base

While the Israeli army said that the UNRWA school in Nuseirat was housing elite Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists who took part in October 7, Hamas says that the school housed displaced Gazans and was not a military compound

Dozens were killed and many more wounded overnight into Thursday in an Israeli airstrike on an UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza the Israel Defense Forces said was functioning as a Hamas compound.

According to the IDF, members of Hamas' elite Nukhba forces who took part in the October 7 massacre were staying at the school.

Peter Lerner, the IDF's foreign media spokesperson, said that the army was aware that the UNRWA school building was also being used by civilians and said that the strike on the building was "intelligence-directed and precise," targeting specific rooms that intelligence reports indicated were housing terrorists.

Lerner further stated that the strike was postponed twice in recent days in order to limit the harm to noncombatants, adding that 20–30 terrorists who were using the site as a forward operating base to direct attacks on IDF forces in the Netzarim Corridor were present there.

The army added that Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants staying in the building were planning imminent attacks against Israeli forces. Hamas said the school building housed displaced persons, and was not a military compound.

The Israeli army also said that this was the fifth time in the past month that terrorist activity has been discovered to be taking place in an UNRWA facility and that "They basically operate under the UN flag, under the assumption that Israel will be wary of striking UNRWA buildings."

Medical teams in Gaza were unable to determine the exact death toll of the strike, since some of the bodies were not identifiable. An UNRWA spokeswoman estimated that 35–45 people were killed in the strike, but added that they could not confirm the reports.

The Hamas-run communications ministry in Gaza said that 40 people were killed. The IDF spokesperson had no information regarding civilian casualties in the strike, as reported by media sources in Gaza.

IAF fighter jets conducted a precise strike on a Hamas compound embedded inside the school in the area of Nuseirat. These terrorists belonged to the Nukhba Forces and participated in the Oct. 7 massacre.

Before the strike, a number of steps were taken to reduce the risk of harming uninvolved civilians during the strike, including conducting aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence information.

The Israeli army said that before carrying out the strike, it took steps to limit harm to noncombatants, including "aerial inspections" and the "use of precise intelligence."

"These are made-up stories designed to justify Israel's brutal crime against dozens of displaced persons," Ismail al-Tawabta, director of the Hamas communications ministry, said in response.

The IDF launched an operation on Tuesday in central Gaza's al-Bureij, for the third time since the start of the war. According to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza's Deir al-Balah, 141 bodies and 380 wounded people were brought to the hospital in a 24-hour period as the result of strikes in al-Bureij, Nuseirat and Deir al-Balah.

"We cannot receive any more wounded," hospital spokesman Dr. Khalil al-Daqran said. "There is tremendous pressure on the medical staff, we cannot control the situation."

Human rights organization Doctors Without Borders reported Wednesday that dozens of bodies of women and children were brought to the hospital.

In the past two weeks, hundreds of thousands of Gazans have fled from Rafah to Deir al-Balah and refugee camps in central Gaza. Hani Ahmed, a teacher and father of five who is now living in the center of al-Bureij, said that although two buildings very close to him were attacked, he is not eager to move again with his family.

"There's nowhere else to run," Ahmed said. "Khan Yunis is in ruins, Rafah is under attack, northern Gaza has been devastated. Maybe I'll put my family in my small minibus and we'll live on the beach. We have no tent. We're terrified."

"The shelling, drone fire and airstrikes continue nonstop," said Adham al-Diya, a videographer who reports from central Gaza to Arab media outlets.

Al-Diya said he has seen people loading the wounded onto horses or mule-drawn wagons and bringing them to ambulances, but that the drivers are unable to coordinate their movement with the Israeli army and are forced to turn back. "There are still a lot of bodies in the buildings that no one can get to," he added.
